Ron Gerrard 1937 - 2001

Sadly, Ron died suddenly on 26^th February 2001. He is missed both at a personal level as he was my father in-law, but also at a professional level as my teacher, mentor and friend. As one of the original founders of JRD, he took great pride in the way the business had developed over the years. He was dedicated to ensuring that everyone around him were happy, something that he was particularly good at. Many people experienced his strength and enthusiasm. He always had a story to tell and many people remarked that there was always laughter wherever he was.

He always saw the good side in everyone. He was well respected in the industry and in particular he had a very good working relationship with our key customers.

He was the main driving force behind JRD achieving the Investors In People award. When this started in 1995, he was responsible for JRD winning the Cambridge Evening News Training award. It was clear then that he was committed to this, as JRD was up against some tough competition. Recently, we had our fifth successful re-evaluation for this award. It was clear the foundations of his efforts still remain today.
